No older person should be alone on Christmas Day unless they want to be

About our work – Day 8 of our Countdown to Christmas

It’s nice to get a full picture of what can actually be done in a short time to really improve Christmas for isolated people.

For example, one gentleman contacted us in early December last year about doing something in his local community in 2017, because he thought it was too late for 2016. Our founder suggested that it wasn’t too late at all, and that he should get the ball rolling now!

After a long discussion it was agreed that this gentleman would do a leaflet drop around his block of flats to see who else was going to be alone. This act alone identified four older people who were facing Christmas Day on their own. In the end, he visited them all with mince pies and soup and brought smiles to everyone’s faces. This has inspired him to do other things for his community during the year as well as for Christmas this year.

It’s never to get involved and to make a difference! https://communitychristmas.org.uk/get-involved/events-and-activities/
