The International Day of Older Persons falls on 1 October – highlighting the fact that, as our population increases, so does the number of older people who suffer from isolation. Christmas is a time of particular loneliness for many – something the charity Community Christmas, featured in our Winter 2013 issue, is trying to address.

So, although this magazine may be dropping through your letter box at the end of July, planning for this year’s Christmas lunches is already well under way. And you can help Community Christmas get closer to fulfilling its aim of making sure that no elderly person spends Christmas alone.
