The importance of Community Christmas – Day 16 of our Countdown to Christmas

A very sad, but ultimately heartwarming word from one of our volunteers about the importance of Community Christmas;

‘I took a phone call from the neighbourhood police about a blind man who had been identified by them as being very lonely. He had spent Christmas Day on his own for years, to the extent he wrapped up empty boxes to unwrap by himself on the day. He came to our event, and we really think he enjoyed the day! If we had not been able to supply transport, the police were going to bring him. He went home with raffle prizes, a present from Father Christmas and a “Party Bag”, and hopefully a full tummy and some happy memories!’
