No older person should be alone on Christmas Day unless they want to be

Events and Activities

We want everyone to be able to look forward to Christmas Day and so our free website listing is there to help spread the word. We would like to hear from anyone who offers companionship to older people on Christmas Day whether it involves a full Christmas Lunch or a cup of tea, whether it is free or at a cost, whether there is transport provided or not. Cooking a turkey for one is impractical and booking a table for one is unappealing. By working together we can make a difference to our older people and our communities.

Tell us about a current Christmas Day event or activity

If you, or someone you know, already offer a meal or activity on Christmas Day that welcomes older people then we would love to be able to include the details on our website. Please complete our form so we can include the venue.

Organise something new

In order to support as many older people as possible Christmas Day events and activities are needed all around the UK. If you would be interested in becoming an lunch organiser, showing a film in a village hall or perhaps getting a group together to go to a local pub or restaurant take a look at our FAQs then please contact us for more information.

I am sure you will understand that to ensure the safety of all parties we are not able to put individuals directly in contact with each other. However, we are happy to encourage you to knock on your neighbours door and seeing if they would like to share a cup of tea and a piece of Christmas cake.

Local volunteers are key to ensuring that the needs of the older people in their community are met on Christmas Day. See what is happening in your area by doing a postcode search on our locations page so that you can register your interest and find out more. If there isn’t anything listed in your area, or they don’t need any more volunteers, please keep checking for updates.

Alternatively, getting neighbours together doesn’t have to be complicated – why not start something new? Perhaps you can get a group together to go to a local pub or restaurant or knock on a neighbours door to see if they would like to share a cup of tea and a piece of Christmas Cake.

Many of our Friends and Partners welcome enquiries from volunteers interested in making a difference through the year and this can often lead to new friendships and the ability to provide a better Christmas in the future – please contact them direct.

Take a look at our FAQ and then please contact us to find out more about the options and how we can support you.
