No older person should be alone on Christmas Day unless they want to be

Get inspired to get fundraising! – Day seven of our Countdown to Christmas

Fundraisers, donors and supporters are the only reason that we’re able to keep working towards a day where no older person in the UK spends Christmas Day alone, unless they choose to.

One fantastic example of these fundraisers (and many fine examples of the most wonderful Christmas jumpers) came from Dan Walker and his friends who organised a Christmas Jumper Day pub crawl around central London for the 4th year in a row. This year Dan decided to raise money for a charity, and very kindly chose Community Christmas. Each participant donated £5 to the charity, making a total of an amazing £165 towards our work.

Dan said ‘I think it’s great that there are charities committed to ensuring old people aren’t lonely at this time of year. I hope the £165 makes a difference.’

It certainly will Dan, thank you so much for your support! Your jumpers will have brightened the days of those around you, and your donations will brighten the Christmas Days of older people across the country.

If you’d like to donate to Community Christmas, you can do so at https://communitychristmas.org.uk/get-involved/donate/. Alternatively, why not set up your own fundraising event? Find out more at https://communitychristmas.org.uk/get-involved/fundraising/.
