I would hate to be alone on Christmas day so I wouldn't want anyone else to be.

Big Lottery enables bigger Community Christmas

In the run up to Christmas 2014 Community Christmas received just under 500 enquiries, made over 800 outbound calls to organisers, guests and volunteers and received over 10,000 website hits in December alone! So far all of this has been achieved with the support of our sponsors:

  • A website helping to connect people directly thanks to Web Squared
  • The Verbatim reception service putting people in touch with us where the web site doesn’t have the answers

and some dedicated volunteers who celebrated the Big Lottery Award with MP Richard Benyon.

Last year we worked with Royal Voluntary Service to spread the message and this year we are delighted to be working with Friends of the Elderly as well as continue our work with the Silver Line.

We are anticipating three times the number of enquiries this year as we help people to connect around the country with many of these connections lasting into the year ahead.

No elderly person in the UK should be on their own on Christmas Day unless they want to be

  1. Great initiative! I fully support you in this. We should not forget about the elderly people who gave their contribution to our society and now deserve a peaceful and happy time of their life. Cheers!
